Purpose of the Safewalk Program
Safe Walk is a University Police Crime Prevention Program designed to assist students, faculty/staff and visitors by providing walking escort services from one campus location to another.
Who can use the program?
Members of the University Police Department Security Division will provide the escort as assigned by the University Police Dispatch.
When are Safewalks available?
Fall and Winter Semesters: from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 7 days / week. Spring and Summer Terms: from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 7 days / week.
How do I get a Safewalk?
-
Contact the University Police Dispatch Center by calling 422-2222 and request a Safewalk escort.
-
Give your destination and where the SafeWalk officer can meet you.
-
A SafeWalk officer will be assigned and will meet with you at the location you have specified.
-
Please be at the location when the Escort Officer arrives. The officer may wait for a few minutes, but a "No Show" will negatively impact the ability we have to provide this service in a prompt and efficient manner.
-
If you have any comments or questions regarding "SafeWalk" or the service you receive, please contact Officer R. O'Hara by email or by phone at 422-5218.
