University Police was established to provide law enforcement services to the BYU Campus Community.  The BYU Community consists of over 35,000 students, faculty, and staff.  In addition to the regular campus population, BYU hosts literally tens of thousands of guests each year.

With a population the size of a city, BYU is subject to some of the same problems as any municipality.  BYU is not immune from theft, vandalism, drugs, alcohol, sex crimes, and many other violations of the law.  Students, faculty, staff, and the University itself are often victims of unlawful and malicious acts.  These crimes need to be reported as they occur and as they are discovered.  If crimes are not reported, the task of providing protection and prevention to the campus community becomes a daunting and sometimes impossible task.

The most difficult crimes to report are those that affect a person individually and rob a person of their dignity, well-being, and safety.  These events in particular are of concern to the University Police Department.  Police personnel are ready to help.

Those desiring to speak with University Police may visit the office in 2120 JKB during regular hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. If the department office is not open and you need assistance, please call 422-2222 any time of the day or week.
