Information During multiple graduation events on campus, several lifted trucks exited the 48Y parking lot onto University Parkway by driving over the curb and onto the sidewalk. The complainant submitted an email to BYU PD, including a photo of one truck reporting the reckless behavior. A check of the area revealed no damage to landscaping or university grounds. An officer will try to contact the drivers.
Fraud BYU Police were alerted after an unknown suspect cloned the department's phone number and used it to contact multiple individuals. The scammer falsely claimed there was a warrant and attempted to obtain bank account information. Fortunately, the targeted individuals recognized the suspicious activity and did not share any personal details, instead reporting the calls to dispatch. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to a report of a fire alarm at the Motion Pictures Studio, Ranch and School house. Upon inspection, the building showed no signs of fire. The alarm technician requested the officers to silence and reset the alarm system, which they did. A fire technician will follow up on the alarm.
Lock out – Citizen Assist A citizen assist was reported after an individual was found locked in a parking lot used for construction equipment. The individual had parked in the area when the gate was open; when they returned, the gate was locked. The individual was able to drive out after an officer opened the gate and warned them about the ongoing construction. This incident was due to parking issues with the high school graduations.
