The details were forwarded to the Police Chief and college administrators for awareness, and no additional steps were taken.
Welfare Check Police officers responded to the HCEB following a report of an individual exhibiting irrational and agitated behavior. Upon arrival, the subject voluntarily left the building and was seen walking to a nearby bus stop on University Parkway. The complainant clarified that there was no criminal activity; the individual appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis but did not pose a threat to others. Officers observed the individual from a distance and noted no concerning behavior. The subject later boarded a bus and left the area.
Welfare Check BYU police responded to the Jesse Knight Building after a concerned citizen reported that her friend was experiencing suicidal ideations. Upon arrival, an officer located and checked on the woman's welfare. She explained that she had no intention of harming herself and that her previous statements were made out of frustration during a difficult mental episode, exacerbated by a recent major incident at UVU. The officer facilitated her connection with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), confirming she could meet with a counselor immediately. The officer then accompanied her to CAPS for further support.
Accident A police officer responded to a report at Riviera Apartments regarding damage to a parked vehicle. The complainant stated that a note with a phone number was left on his vehicle, but when he contacted the individual who left the note—a female—she refused to provide any details and directed him to her father. After speaking with the father, the complainant obtained insurance information but did not require further police assistance.

Citizen Contact A BYU Police officer responded to a report from a BYU employee who expressed concern about seeing a male on campus with whom she had a prior incident and from whom she wishes to have no contact. The officer clarified that the individual has not been banned from campus and there are no active stalking injunctions or protective orders in place between them. The officer provided the reporting party with information regarding Title IX and the process for obtaining a protective order. The officer then escorted her to the BYU Police Station, where she met with a Victim's Advocate to receive additional resources and support.
Information The complainant reported being approached outside the ESC by three males who claimed to be students looking for a class. While attempting to assist them, the complainant became suspicious, noting they could not provide a class schedule and appeared not to be students. After expressing that he could no longer help, one of the individuals reportedly said something like “got him,” and the group ran off. The complainant stated he felt an immediate loss of spiritual peace and unease following the encounter, prompting him to report the incident to police. Officers found no evidence of criminal activity; the report was filed for informational purposes only.
Fraud A police officer took a report from a BYU employee about unauthorized usage of his Cougar Cash and other online funds. This is an active investigation and will be referred to the Investigations Division.
