Campus Alarms The BYU police provided support to campus security by responding to four campus alarms and handling several lockouts, ensuring the safety and assistance of the campus community.
Trespassing Report of an unauthorized drone flying over Miller Baseball Complex. Officer responding confirmed it was authorized.
Assault Officers responded to Helaman Fields following a report of an assault during pre-football game activities. During a game of touch football, a player assaulted two opponents by striking them in the face, resulting in a facial laceration that may require stitches. The suspect and his father quickly left the scene before officers arrived. The victims and witnesses did not know the suspect’s name, though he provided a name and phone number by signing a waiver. BYU staff members volunteered to help identify the suspect.
Suspicious An officer was dispatched to the Marriott Center for a report of an unattended backpack. The officer found that the backpack belonged to one of the security students working close by.
Assault The complainant and his wife went to exchange her children with her ex-mother-in-law in a parking lot during a football game. Upon approaching the vehicle, the complainant confronted the ex-mother-in-law about her negative communication with his wife. Feeling threatened and emotional, she slapped him. A verbal altercation ensued, during which she slapped him two more times. There were no injuries or marks. Both parties eventually departed. The complainant requested charges, and the case will be referred to the Provo City Attorney's Office for review.
