Welfare Check
Officers were dispatched on a report of a student who failed to complete their digital safe walk. The student was located safe at their intended destination. The student had forgotten to log that they had completed their safe walk.

Nuisance
Officers were dispatched to the Joseph F. Smith building on a report from BYU Security, of a college age male camping in the building quad. When the officers arrived, they contacted a student who was sleeping in the JFSB courtyard. The officers checked the student's welfare and the student agreed to return to their residence.

Traffic Accident
A student made a delayed report by phone of a hit and run traffic accident that occurred on February 01, 2022, in lot 30, between the hours of 0800 and 1700 hours. The complainant was provided with a case number for the incident and an investigation is underway to try to identify and locate the other vehicle.

Suspicious
Officers responded to a call of a suspicious person at the J. Reuben Clark Law Building. Upon arrival, officers patrolled the area in an attempt to locate a suspect who was going through desks. The suspect was gone upon the officer’s arrival. Officer contacted the complainant for detailed information on the suspect.

Traffic Accident
A student reported that they were involved in a minor traffic accident with another vehicle with no injuries in lot 4. The student reported that the involved parties exchanged information and just wanted to make an information report. The student was provided with a case number.

Extortion
Officers were dispatched on a telephonic extortion. I spoke with the student and his father (three-way phone call) and let them know that this was a common fraud strategy. A report was taken.

Agency Assist
BYU Police Investigations was contacted by DCFS to assist with an investigation the Utah County Sheriff's Office was conducting. Utah County Sheriff's Office is investigating a sexual abuse case and received information that the victim in their case may have been shown a pornographic photo while hiking on the Y Mountain Trail. The incident will be investigated to see if a crime was committed on BYU property.

Traffic Accident
Officer took a call of a delayed accident/property damage that occurred when a car turning into the Creamery on 9th slid on ice and knocked over the stop sign near lot 23 and 900 east. The driver reported there was no damage to his vehicle. The officer inspected the stop sign, and it seems to be fine. No further action was taken.
