Found Property A police officer responded to the Smith Field House for a found property report. The officer collected a wallet from the custodian’s office and left a voicemail and text message for the owner, informing them the wallet was at the station. Although initial contact was unsuccessful, the owner later called back, and the wallet was successfully returned.
Unsecured Building During an extra patrol, an officer discovered an exterior door at the West Campus building left unlocked. The door on the Southeast corner near the auditorium was found with its push bar set to lock open, and the pull handle was broken off and, on the ground, outside. Security keys with the correct Allen wrench to secure the door were in dispatch, which was notified to submit a repair order for the broken handle
Medical Police and fire officers responded to a medical emergency after a 14-month-old baby was accidentally hit on the head when the complainant tripped in the dark while getting the baby up. EMTs examined both the baby and the complainant, finding no injuries requiring further medical attention. The complainant was advised to call back if the baby's condition changed.
Welfare Check Officers responded to the LSB on a complaint of a transient male on the 4th floor. Contact was made with services offered, and the male proceeded on his way.
Agency Assist Officers responded to a report from BYU's security department regarding a potentially stolen vehicle in the parking structure north of the Tanner Building. An officer confirmed with Metro Dispatch that the vehicle was listed as stolen on NCIC but verified that the owner, who had parked the vehicle on campus a month ago, had simply forgotten. Notifications have been sent to the owner to reclaim the vehicle and to have the theft listing cleared.
Medical BYU Police were dispatched to the JKB after a student rolled her ankle. EMS evaluated and cleared the patient, but she requested to be transported to the SHC. An officer transported here to that location.
Theft A police officer returned a call to the complainant regarding his stolen bike. The complainant reported parking his bike near the Harmon Building on BYU campus. Upon returning, he discovered the bike was missing. An unknown suspect had taken the bike and traveled east from campus into a nearby Provo neighborhood.
Theft Officers responded to the Richards Building regarding a theft from the swim team's locker room during a high school swim meet. The victim reported that his wallet, phone, AirPods, and shoes were stolen. Although high school students had accessed the locker room, it remains unclear if they were involved. Using the “Find My” app, the victim tracked his phone near the pool, but officers found nothing during a search. No suspect information is available at this time, and officers advised the victim to stay in contact if the phone’s location changes.
Found Property An officer responded to the Smith Field House after a building care employee found a man's wallet following a volleyball game. The officer contacted the wallet's owner, who lives out of town, and was informed he will return to campus tomorrow to retrieve it from the police station.
