Information Officers were contacted about a delayed hit and run from this morning in Lot 37. After reviewing video, it was determined that the damage happened before they arrived on campus.
Citizen Contact EMS had a walk-in patient at the WSC who asked to have their blood pressure checked. A case number was pulled, but no officer response was needed.
Welfare Check Officers responded to the Engineering Building following a report of an elderly female who appeared to be lost and possibly schizophrenic. Upon arrival, the building and surrounding area were thoroughly checked, but no contact with the individual was made, and the scene was cleared.
Information A complainant reported to the police regarding a student who had recently been arrested on a felony charge of false identification. The complainant also believed the student might have a rifle in their dorm room, based on pictures of the student with the weapon; however, they had not seen the rifle in person. The complainant clarified that no threats had been made or implied and simply wanted law enforcement to be aware of the situation. The case was documented and forwarded to Investigations for further information.
Criminal Mischief A delayed report was received regarding an incident of criminal mischief at Helaman Halls. The complainant stated that she parked her vehicle near the volleyball courts on February 19, 2026. When she returned around 0930 hours, she found that someone had poured maple syrup on her vehicle. The case is under investigation.
Suspicious A police officer responded to the old BYU Creamery after reports of a male individual present on the construction site possibly trying to commit a theft. The officer located and contacted the male, who was later identified through his Utah Identification Card. A records check revealed no prior incidents or warrants associated with the individual. The suspect explained that he was seeking to retrieve copper from a junk pile on the site. The officer advised him to leave the construction area and warned that if he returned, he would face charges of trespassing.
Accident – Hit and Run Officers responded via phone to a late report of a hit-and-run incident that took place earlier in the day in lot 37. The complainant’s unoccupied vehicle was struck by another vehicle. A witness left a note with the suspect vehicle’s license plate. The driver of the suspect vehicle was contacted by phone and admitted not knowing what to do after the collision, citing a late arrival to class. They provided their information, which was relayed to the complainant and a report was filed.
Medical A BYU EMS officer and Provo Medics responded to the Cannon Center after a student employee lost consciousness, fell, and bumped their head. The medical team assessed and treated the head injury, but the patient refused further care and decided to remain at the Cannon Center with their supervisor.
Welfare Check Officers responded to a report of an individual experiencing mental health issues and expressing suicidal thoughts. Contact was made with the subject, who was studying at the library with a coworker. The officer remained with the subject, who stated they had no immediate plan to harm themselves and was adjusting to changes in medication. The subject was provided a ride to their residence to be with roommates. They declined further assistance but were informed of available counseling resources if needed.
