After speaking with both individuals, it was confirmed that the property had already been turned over to the BYU Police Department for collection by the respective party. No further assistance was needed.
Medical A police officer responded to Wymount Terrace regarding a two-year-old child experiencing a high fever and seizures. Medical personnel arrived on scene, evaluated the child, and transported them to the hospital for further treatment.
Civil Problem Police responded to a custody dispute between two parents regarding their child, who was enrolled in the daycare program at the JFSB. The parents are separated and have been advised to document any incidents related to their child's care. They are instructed to present this documentation to the court for any necessary clarifications or considerations in the custody proceedings.
Medical Officers and Provo Fire responded to a medical emergency at the Y Trailhead. Medical personnel arrived prior to law enforcement and transported the patient to Utah Valley Hospital. EMS determined that law enforcement assistance was no longer needed before officers arrived on scene.
Lost Property A male individual contacted the front desk to report the theft of his umbrella, which he had left near the Blue-Line Cafe in the Tanner Building. Upon returning to retrieve it, he discovered it was no longer there. He requested to review video footage in hopes of locating his missing umbrella.
Suspicious Officers responded to the IT building following a delayed report of a male who had tailgated an employee entering the premises. The complainant did not recognize the individual who mentioned meeting a friend there. Concerned for security, the officers cleared the building and monitored security cameras. Dispatch tracked the male as he entered and exited the building shortly afterward.
Welfare Check A concerned complainant requested a welfare check on a friend who had not been responding to phone calls and has a history of mental illness. Officers responded to the scene and located the friend at home. It was determined that the individual had been napping and was unaware of the phone calls, confirming their well-being.
Fire Alarm Dispatch received a report of a fire alarm in building 3, at Heritage Halls. Upon arrival, it was determined that a resident had burned steak on a frying pan, causing smoke but no fire or damage. The alarm was reset at the request of the alarm technician, and the Housing Assistants assisted in clearing out the smoke.
Suspicious Person BYU Officers responded to HR 12 regarding a 40-year-old male with a dog, who was knocking on windows and attempting to enter the building. The man was let inside after contact. Officers, after speaking with residents, believed the individual to be the husband of the resident assistant (RA) of the building. The officers then contacted the complainant, who responded to the RA’s apartment and positively identified the male. The RA explained that her husband had gone out to walk the dog and couldn’t get back into the building.
