Fire Alarm An officer was dispatched to respond to a fire alarm at the Indoor Practice Facility. However, security informed the officer that the alarm was part of a scheduled test, and the scene was cleared prior to the officer's arrival.
Accident – Hit and Run A hit-and-run accident took place in the parking lot of Lot 14. An officer was dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident and gather documentation about what occurred.
Duress Alarm An officer responded to a duress alarm in Room 2400 of the Wilkinson Student Center. It was determined that an employee had accidentally triggered the alarm. The officer reset the system and cleared the alarm without further incident.
Abandoned Vehicle A security officer requested an officer to check on an abandoned vehicle in Lot 52 of Wymount Terrace 6C. The vehicle was tagged and photographed, and the owner was contacted. The owner stated they had moved out of state and will arrange for a recovery company to retrieve the vehicle within ten days.
Trespass Notice Officers responded to the HBL Library after a security guard recognized an individual with a prior history of trespassing and fleeing from security. Upon contact, the individual was trespassed from the campus to prevent further incidents.
Medical An officer responded to the LSB Anatomy Lab regarding a student who had passed out. BYU EMS arrived, assessed the patient, and found the student awake and sitting in the outer hallway. The student refused hospital transport and was released by EMS at the scene.
Family Problem Officers responded to the west tunnel at Marriott Center to investigate an altercation between two family members. After conducting a thorough investigation, officers determined that the evidence present at the scene was insufficient to support criminal charges or pursue further action.
Overdose A police officer and Provo Paramedics responded to the Riviera following reports of a female who had intentionally overdosed on prescription medication. Upon arrival, the female admitted to the overdose, and paramedics transported her to Utah Valley Hospital for treatment. With her permission, the officer notified her mother and informed the police chief. The officer arranged for the female to be placed under an involuntary commitment for a mental health evaluation.
