Extortion – Fraud
BYU Police responded to a report involving repeated text messages from an unknown suspect attempting to extort money from the complainant. The suspect claimed the complainant owed money for unpaid escort services, sent a childhood address, and threatened violence. Although the complainant did not respond to the messages or calls, he expressed concern for his family's safety and requested a police report for documentation.

Lost Property
The Assistant Business Manager at the Bean Life Science Museum reported missing keys, noting they were lost long before her tenure began over a year ago. She indicated that no one has called to report the loss until now and has no information on how or when the keys went missing or who last had them. She was provided with a case number and will follow up if she obtains any additional details.

Lost Property
A report was received regarding a lost key from the business building, last seen a few weeks ago. Despite active search efforts by the caller, the key has not been located. An officer provided a case number and documented the loss in accordance with the replacement policy.

Accident
Upon arriving at the scene of an accident involving two vehicles, a Ford and a Jeep, the officer observed both parties present. The damage was minimal, with no airbags deployed and no injuries reported. The officer advised the involved parties to file their reports online.

Welfare Check
A concerned citizen reported to BYU Police that a male was sitting on a railing over a ledge at the Marriott Center. An officer responded, spoke with the man, and confirmed he was not in crisis, simply enjoying the sunset. After a friendly conversation, the man stepped down and left peacefully, with no incident occurring.

Found Property
A BYU officer recovered a vehicle key fob from the Smith Field House after a large event. The employee at the site reported no one had reported losing a key fob. The officer notified dispatch in case of a call and repeatedly checked the area for any vehicle alarms but found no vehicles. Ultimately, the key fob was taken to the Wilkinson Student Center lost and found.
