Accident The officer responded to the bend in the road near West Campus Drive and South Campus Drive regarding a traffic accident. A large bus was negotiating the turn from West Campus Drive to head eastbound on South Campus Drive when it sideswiped a car traveling in the opposite direction. The turn was too sharp for the large bus to complete without crossing the double yellow line.
Trespassing Officers responded to a report of an adult male in the Wilkinson Student Center who had been banned from campus. After arriving, the officers discovered that the individual had left the building and entered the Harold B. Lee Library. Library security located him on camera, and the officers took him into custody. He was escorted to the BYU police department, where he was cited for criminal trespassing and then released. Following this, he was escorted to his vehicle and asked to leave campus.
Lost Property The officer was dispatched to the Marriott Center regarding a purse found. However, before arriving, the complainant decided to locate the owner without the officer's help and canceled the request for assistance.
AED – Alarm On a routine call, an officer responded to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) alarm at the Marriott Center. A police technician was sent to conduct a check on the AEDs to make sure they were operating correctly. However, due to a communication error, both police and fire units were incorrectly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the officer met with the technician, who clarified that the AED alarm was a false alert. The situation was resolved without further incident, and all responding units were informed of the error.
