Welfare Check
A student's mother, initially worried after being unable to reach her diabetic son living in Heritage Halls, contacted BYU Police. However, before officers arrived, she was able to get in touch with her son and confirmed that he was safe.

Fire Alarm
Officer responded to a fire alarm at Heritage Halls Building 2 on BYU campus. Upon arrival, they met with a fire tech who confirmed there was no fire, and the alarm was triggered by an electrical circuit melting plastic. The tech will follow up further, and the officer cleared the call.

Lost Property
A culinary worker doing a key audit at the football stadium reported that two keys were missing. The keys are 8518-16 and 4727-37. A report was taken so the keys could be replaced.

Theft
A complainant reported that they had left their iPad in the Engineering Building on BYU campus. After returning to retrieve it, the device was missing. The iPad was observed to have moved around campus for a couple of weeks before its recent ping indicated an address in Provo. Due to the densely populated area and the unreliable nature of Apple device pings, the item has not yet been located. The case has been listed as stolen.

Duress Alarm
A staff employee in the student dean's office of the WSC reported that they accidentally depressed the duress alarm. An officer responded and reset the alarm.

Property Damage
A student reported that while parked in Lot 59, another vehicle parked nearby and opened its passenger door into her car, causing damage. She was unable to make contact with the other driver at the scene but took a photo of the license plate. Follow-up action will be taken.

Trespassing
Officer was responding to a call at the MPS for juveniles trespassing when they were canceled. MPS security had delt with the individuals and did not need Police assistance.

Fire Alarm
On April 18, 2026, at approximately 2234 hours, BYU officers responded to the MTC following a fire alarm. MTC security reported that popcorn had been burnt and requested the officers to reset the alarm. A Fire Technician arrived and confirmed that all alarms had been cleared.
