Medical - Heart Problem An officer was dispatched to a medical call regarding a heart problem at Heritage. A student was complaining of severe chest pain. The Provo Fire Department arrived, evaluated the individual, and, after consulting with his parents, decided that he would not be transported to the hospital. Instead, his parents would come to get him and take him to a doctor for further evaluation.
Welfare Check Officers were dispatched to Maeser Hill following a report of an individual lying on the lawn with a pillow, raising concerns about his well-being. However, before the officers arrived, dispatch confirmed that the male had stood up, taken his pillow, and walked away. As a result, the officers canceled their response.
Welfare Check BYU Police performed a welfare check on a student who had not been seen for several weeks after a professor expressed concerns to the Dean of Students. The officer located the student at their off-campus home in Provo and confirmed that they were safe and well.
Information A Resident Assistant (RA) at BYU, contacted campus police to report rumors that students from Budge Hall planned to storm Stover Hall. She indicated that the rumored event, described as a "stampede," was expected to occur on April 19 at around 3:00 AM. In response to the rumors, Budge Hall RAs had advised students against participating in such behavior. Following the report, the shift sergeant informed the grave shift to increase patrols in the area overnight.
Found Property A concerned individual discovered a backpack on a bench in the northwest corner of the ASB. An officer inspected the bag, found identification, and contacted the owner. The officer then placed the backpack in the ASB office for the owner to retrieve later.
Theft A BYU student reported a theft to the police after discovering that a large black plastic bag containing football clothing and equipment had been stolen from under his parked vehicle, a gray 2023 RAV 4, near the Indoor Practice Field. The student had left the bag there while visiting the Student Athletic Building from approximately 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. When he returned around 8:30 p.m., the bag was missing. A search of BYU’s surveillance system yielded no footage of the vehicle or any activity in the area during that time.
