Alarm – Tamper Alarm MPS: An officer responded to a request from the electric shop to silence a tamper alarm on the fire panel at the FSSS building. The audible alarm was silenced, and a technician will follow up on Monday. The issue was reported as not being serious.
Suspicious Circumstance A suspicious Facebook post claimed that Lavell Edwards Stadium was on fire. The post appears to be click-bait and is not regarded as a credible threat. The case has been referred to investigators for review.
Citizen Contact A BYU police officer responded to a report from a citizen at the Botany Pond regarding a couple on a blanket that was perceived as inappropriate. Upon arrival, the officer observed the couple and found no criminal activity. After speaking with them and explaining the situation, the couple agreed to be more mindful of their surroundings. The matter was resolved without further incident.
Warrant Arrest Dispatch received an LPR hit on a stolen vehicle. Authorities located and stopped the vehicle, discovering that the driver was also the owner. The owner had initially reported the vehicle was stolen but later recovered it, though he failed to inform the agency that the plates had been returned, leading to the plates being listed NCIC. Additionally, the owner/driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and booked into Utah County Jail. The reporting agency was contacted to clear the NCIC, and the owner arranged for a friend to pick up the vehicle.
Accident A BYU police officer responded to a report in Lot 49 where a vehicle owner discovered damage on his car upon return. The owner had parked the vehicle between 1100 and 1900 hours and found a note with a phone number after the damage occurred. Although initial contact attempts were unsuccessful, the owner later reported successfully speaking with the person responsible, and they are now working out the details.
