Welfare Check An officer responded to the Wilkinson Center for a welfare check based on a third-party report of a person exhibiting unusual behavior and possible mental health issues. The caller described the individual as having red hair, wearing jeans, and carrying a black backpack, walking toward the Reflection Room. After checking the area, officers were unable to locate the person on-site. Dispatch later confirmed via security cameras that the individual had exited the building on the east side several minutes prior to their arrival. A security footage photo suggests the person appeared more like a student than a transient male.
Citizen Contact An officer responded to Lot 22 following a report of a possible hit-and-run. The vehicle owner reported slight damage to the front left bumper and light, suspecting it may have occurred while parked a week earlier, on Monday or Tuesday. Security camera footage confirmed the car was parked in the lot but showed no evidence of being struck by another vehicle.
Fire Alarm An officer responded to a fire alarm at Wymount Laundry Building 4 and discovered that a recent salt truck delivery had dispersed salt dust into the air, triggering the alarm. There was no fire or flames. The officer silenced the alarm, and an electrician will reset the system.
Robbery Alarm An officer was dispatched to the CONE in response to a robbery alarm. Upon arrival, they checked the video cameras, which showed everything was normal. The officer inspected all the alarms, which had not been activated, and determined that the alarm was caused by a malfunction. There was no need for reset or further action.
Traffic Stop A police officer conducted a records check on a vehicle and discovered that the registered owner had a suspended skeleton driver's license and had never obtained a Utah driver's license. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer identified the driver as the owner, who admitted to living in Utah for over two years without getting a Utah license. The officer issued citations for both violations and impounded the vehicle, which was towed by Don Shelley Towing after the impound paperwork was completed. The driver was served the citations and impound form, answered the officer's questions, and was later released.
Alarm – CO Smoke A BYU officer responded to a smoke/CO alarm at Wymount Terrace. Upon arrival, residents reported the alarm was beeping. BYU Housing arrived, confirmed the alarm was old and was supposed to be removed. It was later replaced by the technician.
