Suspicious The BYU Police Department was notified of a suspicious person near the B66 building. The caller stated that the individual appeared to be looking for something to steal. The caller described the person as a white male, approximately 5'8" tall, with dark, bushy hair, wearing a black T-shirt that read "Carhart." She also mentioned that, as of now, nothing seems to be missing.
Abandoned 911 Call An officer responded to 685 E University Parkway following an abandoned 911 call, after the dispatch reported two similar calls from the area. The officer arrived, patrolling the vicinity, and was unable to identify any issues or disturbances.
Medical The BYU Police Department and BYU EMS received a report of a medical issue at the Cannon Center main desk. Upon arrival, they found that one of the football camp participants was possibly experiencing a diabetic problem. The parents were notified and took custody of the participant.
Citizen Contact An officer was asked to contact the building manager at BRMB to discuss adjusting the view angles of certain security cameras. Additionally, it was reported that an unidentified individual has been discarding urine in a second-floor garbage container. Custodial staff will remind the responsible custodian not to rummage through the trash for recycling. The trash container has now been relocated to the view of the north - south camera.
Property Damage The BYU Police Department was notified of damage to a vehicle at a soccer camp after it was hit by a soccer ball. Officers arrived, documented the damage, and notified risk management.
Theft An officer responded to a report of an electric scooter theft at Wyview Park apartment complex. The complainant stated that she had secured her scooter to the railing in front of her apartment before it was stolen by an unknown person or persons. Currently, there is no suspect information available, and the serial number of the stolen scooter is unknown.
Information An officer responded to a report of a possible lost or stolen cell phone at the SFH, initiated by a parent whose child, participating in the BYU Basketball Camp, had their phone reportedly stolen. The officer contacted the camp director, who confirmed that the phone had been turned in earlier and planned to announce its return after camp activities. Upon inspection, the officer verified that the recovered device was indeed the missing phone. The director assured us that the phone would be returned once the camp concluded. The officer then notified the parent that the phone was not stolen and would be returned at the end of the camp.
