Traffic Accident An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle accident in a campus parking lot involving a driver who struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. The officer assisted the driver, ensured a note was left on the damaged vehicle, and advised the driver to contact their insurance. The owner of the parked vehicle was not present at the time, and efforts were underway to locate them.
Fraud The victim reported suspected identity theft after being notified by his bank of possible fraudulent activity. He discovered multiple accounts had been opened using his Social Security number. A possible suspect was identified as his father’s boyfriend, who resides in Idaho. Information was collected, and the case was referred to BYU Investigations.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to a fire alarm at the Ellsworth Building. Upon arrival, the fire panel had already been reset. The alarm was determined to have been triggered by an employee engaged in welding activities.
Traffic Accident A BYU officer responded to a minor property damage accident in Lot 50 involving a vehicle owned by BYU Dining Services. The officer made contact with the driver and completed a non-reportable accident report.
Bike Theft 1994 A BYU officer assisted a Provo officer with a bicycle recovered from a 1994 theft. Officers attempted to contact the owner but were unsuccessful due to outdated contact information. The bicycle, linked to a BYU campus theft case, the bike was placed in safekeep storage.
Theft An officer contacted a complainant regarding a delayed report of a stolen cell phone from the basketball courts at Stover Hall. The complainant stated the phone went missing between 1530 and 1700 hours on June 16, 2026, while he was playing basketball. He had already checked with Cannon Center staff for lost property. The officer advised him to leave his contact information with staff and to use his iCloud account to attempt to locate the device.
Safe Walk An officer responded to a report of a student who had not completed their Safe Walk and was not answering phone calls. The officer checked the student’s last known location and was able to establish phone contact. The student confirmed they were safe at home and had simply forgotten to complete the Safe Walk App.
