Medical Emergency responders, including BYU Police, BYU EMS, and the Provo Fire Department, were dispatched to the Harman Continuing Education Building for a 21-year-old woman experiencing breathing difficulties. Upon arrival, it was determined she was having a panic attack rather than a life-threatening condition.
Fraud A BYU Store employee reported a suspicious transaction involving a counterfeit $100 bill. An officer responded and reviewed surveillance footage, which confirmed that the suspect successfully used the fake bill to purchase merchandise and then left the scene. The case has been referred to investigators.
Lost Property A police officer responded to a report from a complainant regarding delayed lost property at the Heber Grant Building. The complainant had accidentally left their sunglasses in the bathroom while taking a test. The officer advised them to regularly check the lost and found, noting that the sunglasses would likely be turned in to the WSC Lost and Found if found.
Fire – Gas Smell When a BYU Camps counselor reported a strong gas smell on the fourth floor of Heritage Halls, building 04, an officer and Provo Fire responded to investigate. Upon inspection, they identified the odor as residual from prank fart spray rather than a gas leak. The situation was quickly resolved, and all units cleared the scene without incident.
Welfare Check A family member of a hiker on the Y-Trail reported they were taking longer than expected hiking the trail head so BYU officers assisted and located the individual who was fine.
