Door Alarm Officers responded to a forced‑door alarm and found a male and a female inside the building. Both individuals had authorized access and were checking in FSY counselors who had just arrived on campus after a delayed flight. Due to the number of people entering, the door had been left open, triggering the alarm.
Welfare Check An officer met with a concerned parent regarding a student who had not answered their phone for about an hour. The officer contacted the student in their dorm room and asked them to meet the reporting party outside. The student explained that everything was fine; they had just fallen asleep.
Suspicious Person Officers investigated a report of a male walking northbound on University Avenue with a handcuff dangling from his wrist. Officers checked the area, but the individual was not located. Employees at a nearby business had not seen him either. The individual was never observed on BYU property.
Duress Alarm A duress alarm was activated in the MTC. Officers responded to the area and found that it had been accidentally pressed. No law enforcement assistance was needed.
Trespassing An officer responded to a possible trespassing incident at the NCAA track. All gates were secure, and no one was present upon the officer's arrival. The officer reviewed cameras and found that the individuals were not on the track, but were driving on Helaman Halls Road.
Trespassing BYU Security employees observed three males attempting to enter the Joseph Smith Building using a key card that was denied. They then entered through a propped-open door. Officers stopped them after they exited and spoke with them about the issue. The males explained they were freshman students trying to locate their classrooms before the semester began. They were advised not to enter locked buildings.
