Traffic Accident Officers responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of 450 East Cougar Boulevard on the BYU campus. BYU Police and EMS initially determined there were no injuries; however, one driver later requested medical attention and was transported to Utah Valley Hospital by an officer. Both drivers were BYU employees operating personal vehicles. One vehicle sustained sufficient damage to require towing, while the other was released to its owner.
Hit and Run Traffic Accident An officer responded to Lot 25 to a reported hit-and-run accident. The complainant provided a photo of the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the scene, which helped the officer obtain a phone number associated with the driver who left the scene. The Tooele County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and conducted a follow-up at the associated address. A responding trooper was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence and did not observe the suspect vehicle. The agency advised they would continue monitoring and attempt further contact, notifying the BYU officer if successful.
Medical An officer and Provo paramedics responded to the Y Trailhead after a report of a juvenile who fell and sustained a head injury near the midpoint of the Y. Upon arrival, paramedics evaluated the juvenile and transported him down the trail using a side-by-side vehicle. The juvenile was then taken to the hospital by his parents.
Juvenile Problem Officers followed up on a delayed report of a juvenile problem at the Cougar Dash on BYU campus. The complainant stated a child, estimated to be 7–9 years old, left the store with an unpaid bottle of Coca-Cola. The child was reportedly alone. Officers and employees searched the area but were unable to locate the juvenile. Employees will notify police if the child returns.
