Found Person Officers responded to a report of a found child after a student discovered a 3‑year‑old walking alone near the Botany Pond trail. The student brought the child to South Campus Drive and flagged down a Security Student Officer, who contacted police. Upon officers’ arrival, the child’s parent had already located them, explaining they briefly lost track of the child while supervising multiple children and began searching immediately. The parents expressed gratitude to those who assisted. The child left the scene safely with their father.
Traffic Accident Hit and Run An officer followed up on a delayed hit-and-run reported in Lot 25. Surveillance footage was reviewed, allowing the officer to identify the involved driver. The officer contacted all parties and completed a driver exchange form. Photos of the damage and video evidence were added to the report.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to Wyview Terrace for a reported fire alarm activation. Upon arrival, they determined no fire was present; the alarm was triggered by light smoke from burned food inside the residence. The occupants denied activating the alarm and were surprised by its activation. The Electrical Shop responded, and a BYU officer silenced the alarm. Provo Fire and BYU EMS also responded in accordance with standard protocol.
Lost Property An officer responded to a report of a lost wallet, made contact with the complainant by phone, and later located the wallet at the WSC information desk. The property was returned to the owner.
Suspicious Officers responded to the Food to Go building, for a reported trespass in progress involving the use of a previously reported stolen access card. Investigation revealed the card had been properly reactivated by the authorized user and used lawfully to gain entry. Building security confirmed no trespass or burglary occurred.
Disorderly Officers responded to Heritage Halls, for a report of three juvenile males throwing rocks at a building window. FSY staff reported hearing tapping, including one loud impact, and confronted the individuals, who fled prior to officers’ arrival. No damage was observed. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects and cleared the call.
Trespassing Officers responded to the Cannon Center for a report of a male student trespassing on the building rooftop. One officer checked the rooftop while another searched the surrounding area, but the individual had left prior to their arrival. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and conducted extra patrols in the area before clearing the call.
