Disturbance
An officer was dispatched to BYU West Campus in response to a report of a possible disturbance. In preparation for the July 4th Provo Parade, several individuals were camping overnight on the campus lawn to reserve spots. Upon arrival, the complainant informed the officer that someone had been yelling and identified a specific individual as the source of the disturbance. The officer contacted the identified individual and conducted a routine records check through the state database. It was determined that the individual had an active warrant out of West Jordan City in the amount of $3,500. The Utah County Dispatch Center was contacted to coordinate with the Utah County Jail, which ultimately declined to take the individual into custody. The officer informed the individual of the outstanding warrant. During the interaction, the individual claimed his brother had yelled at him, but that he did not respond or engage in any disruptive behavior.

Lost Property
Complainant reported their tarp was taken off the law just east of the LVES. The Officer met with the complainant and pointed out the signs that prohibit tarps on the lawn. Complainant recognized their mistake and asked if the tarp could be returned to them. The Officer contacted a BYU Grounds employee who could not guarantee it, but agreed to investigate where the tarps had been thrown away and try to return them.

Found Property
A group of teenage girls approached an officer near the Creamery on Ninth and said they found a black wallet on the sidewalk and gave it to the officer. Identification inside the wallet assisted in locating the owner. The wallet was returned to the owner.

Citizen Contact
A Sheriff's Office Volunteer reported observing two individuals in Miller Park who were believed to be trespassing and requested they be escorted off the premises. BYU Police officers responded to the scene and conducted a search of the park. Officers located and contacted a male and female inside the box offices. The male was confirmed to be a BYU employee, and system records showed he was authorized to access both the Miller Park grounds and its doors. The female was identified as his guest.

Abandoned 911 Calls – Stadium of Fire
On July 4th, during the Stadium of Fire event, officers responded to multiple abandoned 911 calls originating from various locations within the stadium. Officers conducted area checks to ensure there were no emergencies associated with the hang-up calls. In addition, officers responded to several medical incidents throughout the event, providing assistance as needed.

Animal Problem
An officer was dispatched to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) following a report of a lost fawn believed to be without its mother. Upon arrival, MTC Security stated they had searched for the deer but were unable to locate it. They also indicated that police assistance was not needed and were unsure who had made the initial report.
