Lost Property BYU Police contacted the Building Operations Manager at the Brimhall Building regarding lost work keys. This report is for documentation purposes only.
Animal Problem BYU Housing reported that someone released a rat into a resident’s room. The rat was captured, and Provo Animal Control took custody of it. The animal was transported to the shelter.
Duress Alarm An officer responded to a duress alarm in the Wilkinson Student Center. The room was locked and unoccupied, and staff confirmed the employee assigned to the office was off for the day. This appears to be a recurring false alarm that BYU security is aware of.
Accident A parked vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the MOA parking lot. Damage was minimal. The driver of the struck vehicle was provided with the other driver’s phone number to exchange information if needed.
Fire Officers responded to a dumpster fire east of the HFAC. The contents were fully engulfed. Provo Fire arrived and extinguished the flames. No injuries or any damage was sustained.
Animal Problem A deer with an injured rear leg was reported on campus. This same deer has been reported multiple times over several months. Although injured, it appears to be functioning normally. No action will be taken at this time.
CO2 Alarm An officer responded to a CO2 alarm at Wyview Park. Fire personnel detected CO2 levels, and occupants stated they had been cooking all day for a gathering. A housing technician ventilated the apartment, and the alarm was reset once levels returned to normal.
Unsecure Premises Officers observed a ladder propped against the Cannon Center during some extra patrols. They located approved workers inside who explained that the ladder was used because the roof hatch was locked. Officers opened the hatch for them, and the ladder was removed.
Lockout While on patrol at Helaman Halls, an officer noticed an open door behind the Cannon Center. They found an employee attempting to access the roof but struggling with the hatch. The officer confirmed the employee’s authorization and opened the hatch.
