Welfare Check A BYU Security officer reported an individual sleeping in a vehicle and requested a police officer to conduct a welfare check. The responding officer contacted the occupant, who confirmed she was okay.
Citizen Contact A BYU Police officer was dispatched to contact a complainant regarding a delayed traffic accident that occurred approximately one week prior. The complainant had already obtained the other party’s information. The officer advised the complainant to resolve the matter through their respective insurance companies, as the incident was civil in nature. The complainant also inquired about potential video surveillance of the accident, but the officer was unable to locate any footage.
Accident Officers responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at the main access point to WyView Park BYU Housing on University Avenue, just before 2230 N. A driver had struck a skateboarder who was crossing the driveway. Provo EMS responded but cleared the scene without taking any action.
Officers contacted both parties and investigated the accident. Minimal damage was found to the vehicle, but the skateboard was broken and rendered inoperable. Officers provided the skateboarder with a courtesy ride home to Orem.
Found Property An officer responded to the JSB for a report of a found cell phone. While patrolling with the phone, it rang, allowing the officer to identify the owner as an FSY participant. The officer attempted to return the phone in person but received no answer at the participant’s door. After speaking with the participant’s parent by phone, it was agreed the officer would return the phone to the participant’s apartment at 0600 the following morning.
CO – Alarm Housing RAs at Helaman Halls reported a flashing alarm light at Chipman Hall. No active alarms were showing in Security. A BYU Police officer and Provo Fire responded and found a flashing red light outside a mechanical room. The alarm, related to the halogen fire suppression system, was acknowledged. Provo Fire found no signs of hazardous gas, and there was no emergency. Housing Facilities and technicians were notified for follow-up. The area was deemed safe, and both the officer and Provo Fire cleared the scene.
Suspicious Officers responded to LVES on a report of a drone flying over the football field. No items were seen being dropped from the drone. Officers searched the surrounding parking lots, Stadium Avenue, and nearby roads but were unable to locate the drone or its operator.
