Assault The BYU Police Department responded to a report of a possible assault on the 'Y' hiking trail. Upon arrival, officers interviewed a female victim who explained that while walking near turn 11, she encountered a male and female couple with an unleashed dog. When the dog approached her, she gestured to keep it away, which appeared to provoke the female of the pair, who then shouted racially charged remarks, telling her to "Go back to your country" due to her Asian descent. Subsequently, the male member of the couple approached and verbally assaulted her before striking her with a walking stick. The suspects had already left the scene by the time officers arrived. Surveillance footage and license plate recognition systems helped identify the individuals responsible for the assault. The case has been referred to investigators.
