Medical Officers responded to the Marriott Center regarding a juvenile FSY participant who had fainted while waiting in line to check in. BYU EMS evaluated the patient at the scene. The juvenile was released to their parents and was not transported for further medical treatment.
Lockout An officer responded to the grounds shed north of the Culinary Support Center to assist with a lockout. A grounds employee needed access to a padlock to replace a chain on a gate. The officer opened the lock, allowing the employee to install the new chain.
Medical Officers responded to a medical assist involving an FSY employee who reported feeling dizzy and experiencing pain in the lower right abdominal area. BYU EMS evaluated the employee, who declined transportation. The employee stated the pain had significantly subsided and advised they had been experiencing similar symptoms for approximately 10 weeks and had previously sought medical attention without receiving a diagnosis. The employee was released and returned to work.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to a fire alarm at the Physical Facilities North Building. Investigation revealed that a duct fan had been set to high speed, causing excess dust to travel through the ventilation system and activate the alarm. The alarm was reset without issue, and no fire or other hazards were found.
CO Alarm Officers and Provo Fire responded to Wymount Terrace for a reported carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. Provo Fire detected the presence of CO and determined the most likely cause was negative air pressure created by an air conditioning unit while a water heater was operating. BYU Housing was notified of the issue. Before clearing the scene, Provo Fire confirmed CO levels had returned to zero and advised that it was safe for residents to return to the apartment. No further action was required.
Suspicious Officers responded to Helaman Halls on a report of a marijuana odor in a residence hall room. A resident assistant reported smelling marijuana while inside the room replacing a smoke alarm battery. Officers contacted the occupants and were granted entry; however, no odor of marijuana or other controlled substances was detected. The occupants showed no signs of impairment or intoxication. After completing the investigation, officers found no evidence of criminal activity and cleared the scene.
