Accident An officer responded to the Ellsworth Building regarding a reportable accident involving a tractor-trailer and a BYU carport. During the incident, the carport structure collapsed onto a boat and an enclosed trailer, causing property damage. The officer conducted an investigation and completed a reportable accident report. Both parties involved were provided with the appropriate case numbers. The Ellsworth manager and fleet manager were notified and responded to the scene. A drone to document and photograph the damage for assessment and investigation purposes.
Agency Assist Officers and Provo Medical responded to the Marriott Center on the BYU campus regarding a report of a juvenile female experiencing difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, an officer observed that the patient's symptoms appeared consistent with anxiety. Medical personnel evaluated the patient and checked her vital signs. The patient's parents were notified and being nearby, responded to the scene to provide care and assistance.
Suspicious Officers responded to Heritage 2 regarding a report of four teenage males who fled the building after being contacted by a resident assistant (RA). Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant, who confirmed the identity of the individuals using a photo provided by dispatch. Officers later located the four males outside J-Hall. The juveniles admitted they had been let into Heritage 2 to get a drink and then ran back toward May Hall. The males were attending a sports camp, and camp staff were notified that they had been out past curfew. The juveniles apologized for entering Heritage 2 without authorization and returned to May Hall without further incident.
Fire Alarm An officer responded to the Indoor Practice Facility on a fire alarm. Upon arrival, no signs of fire or smoke were observed. The officer silenced the alarm, and a fire technician responded to inspect the system. After checking the affected sensor and resetting the alarm system, the technician determined the activation was likely caused by debris being stirred up by air compressors operating below the sensor. The system was returned to normal operation without further incident.
Suspicious Officers responded to the Maeser Hill area on a report of a suspicious male who was reportedly yelling statements about needing to be killed or murdered. The subject was last seen walking down the stairs toward the Botany ponds. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him. A review of security camera footage showed the male had left campus several minutes before officers arrived, traveling south across 800 North, and did not return to campus.
