Found Property A wallet found on Maser Hill by the BYU Grounds Crew was turned over to a BYU Police officer. Dispatch located contact information for the owner, who was identified as a BYU student and employee. The officer contacted the owner and successfully returned the wallet.
Suspicious An officer responded to Wymount Building 6 on a report of a suspicious circumstance after a concerned citizen observed a window screen on the ground and an open ground-floor apartment window. The officer checked the apartment and found it unoccupied. BYU Housing confirmed the apartment was vacant and that windows are commonly left open to ventilate the unit. No signs of criminal activity or other concerns were found.
Medical Officers responded to the Joseph F. Smith Building (JFSB) on a report of a sick person. BYU EMS and Provo EMS evaluated the individual at the scene. After assessment, the patient was cleared and transported by their spouse without further incident.
Failure to Stop An officer observed a motorcyclist performing a wheelie while traveling westbound on University Parkway near Miller Park. The officer caught up to the motorcycle at the intersection of University Avenue and University Parkway and activated emergency lights. Another motorcyclist appeared to warn the suspect, who then accelerated westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the siren, but the suspect continued to flee and drove recklessly, exceeding 75 mph. The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons. Dispatch was notified to alert neighboring agencies, and officers were able to obtain photographs of the suspect.
