Suspicious An officer responded to Lot 30 after a BYU Parking Enforcement officer reported suspected drugs found among trash that had been dumped in a parking stall and on the adjacent sidewalk. The discarded items appeared to have possibly been left by a transient individual. During the cleanup, officers located an empty prescription bottle within the trash. No drugs were found. Officers collected the debris, clearing the area of the discarded materials.
Criminal Mischief An officer responded to Heritage Halls Building 9 regarding a damaged vending machine. Surveillance footage was reviewed; however, available video only dated back to July 23, 2026, at which time the machine was already damaged. No footage was available from before that date to determine when the damage occurred or identify a suspect. The complainant estimated the damage to be approximately $500.
Medical An officer responded to a request from BYU EMS for a standby while they provided medical assistance to a transient male who had come to their office seeking treatment for blisters on his feet. EMS rendered first aid, and the individual departed the area without incident.
Medical Provo Fire Department, BYU EMS, and a BYU Police officer responded to the JKB on a report of an FSY participant experiencing a seizure. The patient was evaluated on scene and medically cleared. The patient's parent was contacted and declined medical transport. Both the parent and the patient expressed a desire for the participant to remain at FSY.
Traffic Accident An officer responded to Lot 38 for a reported non-injury traffic accident. Upon investigation, the officer determined that Vehicle 1 had pulled out of a parking stall too quickly and struck the adjacent parked vehicle. Vehicle 1 sustained a flat tire and required towing, which was arranged through a private tow company by the owner. The officer met with both drivers, provided them with exchange forms, and assisted the tow operator by blocking the roadway to facilitate the safe removal of Vehicle 1.
Noise Complaint An officer responded to Wy-View for a noise complaint related to bore drilling associated with a construction project. The officer contacted Risk Management, which responded along with Housing personnel to assess and measure the noise levels. After discussions with the complainant and representatives of the construction company, a compromise was reached that addressed the concerns of those involved. Construction operations were then allowed to continue.
Traffic Accident An officer responded to Lot 25 near the CONE for a reported non-injury traffic accident. Upon arrival, the officer determined that Vehicle 1 struck the rear driver's-side bumper of another vehicle with its front passenger-side bumper while attempting to park in a tightly spaced parking stall. The officer facilitated the exchange of information between the involved parties and provided each driver with a copy of the exchange form. No further action was taken.
