Welfare Check Officers responded to a welfare check involving a subject who had left home without informing their spouse of their whereabouts and was not answering phone calls. Dispatch issued an ATL to surrounding agencies. An officer was able to make telephone contact with the subject, who stated they were safe and did not require assistance. The subject later contacted the complainant and returned home. The ATL was subsequently canceled.
Suspicious An officer responded to the main lobby of the BYU Engineering Building after building security reported a plastic combination lock box attached to a bench. The lock box, identified as a Safego portable indoor/outdoor model, was secured to the bench and believed to contain a key or other small item. The box had reportedly been in the same location for more than two weeks. The building manager was notified, and a security sergeant will conduct follow-up on the incident. A photograph of the lock box was taken and attached to the report.
Suspicious Officers responded to a report from BYU Security regarding a male who had entered an exhibit area in the Life Sciences Building and taken a selfie with a hippopotamus mount. An officer contacted the male, who admitted taking the photograph and stated he was unaware that entry into the exhibit area was prohibited. The officer advised him that the area was restricted and issued a trespass warning.
Agency Assist Officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle associated with a possibly intoxicated driver that had arrived at the "Y" Trail parking lot. BYU Police and Provo Police responded to the area, but the vehicle had left before officers arrived. Provo Police later located the vehicle elsewhere in Provo and took the driver into custody for investigation of driving under the influence.
