Suspicious An employee at the baseball complex discovered lacrosse equipment left near the bathroom on the second floor. After investigating a loud noise, possibly from someone jumping a locked fence, the equipment was missing upon return. Despite a thorough search, no one was found on or around the premises. It is believed that a youth from the daytime sports camp may have left the equipment and returned at night to retrieve it. No damage or property theft occurred, and there is no video footage of the incident.
Abandoned 911 Hang-up A police officer responded to an abandoned 911 call at the UPB. After stopping nearby, the officer listened and patrolled the area, ultimately observing no issues or suspicious activity.
Lost Property A police officer responded to a report of a lost BYU key, last seen on August 1, 2025. The complainant requested a police report to facilitate replacement at the BYU Key Shop.
Sick Person A medical was reported at the USB Culinary Kitchen after an employee reported feeling sick and lightheaded. BYU EMS responded to assess and monitor the individual, who was evaluated and released. Police also responded to assist as needed. The employee's supervisor filed a report and was listed as the complainant. The employer authorized the employee to take the rest of the day off to rest.
Citizen Contact The BYU Police Department is investigating a suspicious letter discovered in a professor's pamphlet holder outside the Tanner Building. While the letter's content is unusual, it does not appear to be criminal. Video footage capturing the individual responsible for leaving the letter has been recovered, and investigators are currently working to identify and question the person involved.
Information A private investigator contacted BYU police regarding a civil matter involving two incoming BYU freshmen who had previously been involved in a dating relationship. The relationship did not escalate to the point of a protective order. The officer advised the investigator to also notify the Dean of Students Office. A case number was generated and provided for record-keeping purposes.
Accident Officer responded to a traffic accident on Cougar Blvd that ended on 160 East. The accident took place in the intersection. Provo Police requested BYU to take the call.
Information The complainant reported his vehicle stolen from a parking stall earlier this morning. However, upon contact, it was revealed that he had voluntarily arranged with the dealership to have the vehicle repossessed due to unpaid bills. A miscommunication between the complainant and the repossession company led to the belief that the vehicle was still missing, but it had already been repossessed, as verified through the repo company. The complainant made arrangements with the repo company to retrieve some personal items from the vehicle which was parked at their lot in Murray.
