Door Alarm A BYU officer responded to East Campus after receiving a report of an unsecured door. Upon arrival, the officer located and secured the open door. Dispatch advised that carpet cleaners had recently left the building, which likely explained the door being left open. The officer checked the surrounding area, found no issues.
Citizen Contact BYU officers responded to a report of a possible trespassing incident involving a UTV on the Y Trailhead. After speaking with individuals coming down the trail and contacting BYU Grounds personnel, officers determined that the UTV belonged to BYU Grounds and was being used for authorized trail maintenance work. No trespassing violation occurred, and the incident was resolved.
Agency Assist An officer assisted Provo Police Department with a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. The motorcyclist sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The officer provided traffic control at the scene and assisted the investigating Provo Police officer by gathering information related to the incident.
Property Damage An officer took a report of a damaged tire on a vehicle parked in Helaman Halls Parking Lot 41. A tire shop later discovered a razor blade embedded in the tire tread and indicated the tire appeared to have been slashed. The owner was unable to determine whether the damage was intentional or caused by a road hazard. Information was gathered and documented in a report.
Suspicious Activity An officer investigated a report of two torque wrenches believed to have been taken from a toolbox inside the Small Engine Repair Shop on the BYU campus. Video footage was reviewed, and the complainant identified a coworker as a possible suspect. It was later believed the coworker may have borrowed the wrenches without informing the owner. The complainant planned to verify this with the coworker and follow up with the officer. No crime report was filed at this time.
Theft Officers took a telephone report of a bicycle theft that occurred at the bike rack near Helaman Building 9. The complainant reported that sometime within the past two weeks, their bike lock had been cut and the bicycle was stolen.
Property Damage An officer investigated a delayed report of a vehicle being keyed in Parking Lot 37. The complainant reported damage to the driver's side front and rear doors. The officer photographed and documented the damage, reviewed available surveillance footage, and identified a possible suspect. Attempts to contact the suspect were unsuccessful.
