Agency Assist An officer was dispatched to the WSC to speak with a teenager regarding potential issues at home. The teenager, who resides in American Fork and has no direct ties to BYU, was referred to the office by a private party. Following the consultation, BYU employees recommended that the teenager direct her questions to law enforcement. After the discussion, the BYU officer relayed the relevant information to detectives in American Fork for further investigation.
Animal Problem A report was received regarding a deer inside the grounds of the MTC. Officers responded to locate the animal but were unable to find it, although they identified an area where deer are known to bed down. MTC Security continues to patrol the area on foot. Officers advised against disturbing wildlife unless it poses a disturbance or danger. They plan to return if necessary. The deer was not located at this time.
Fire – Alarm A joint response by Officer and Provo Fire was dispatched to HR following a report of a smoke smell. Officers confirmed the scent, which was stronger to the east of HR. Provo Fire personnel investigated the area and determined the smoke originating from the Tree Streets neighborhood. They then received clearance to check off-campus areas to locate the source of the smoke.
Welfare Check A report was received of an unidentified adult male lying on the ground in parking lot 45. An officer responded to check on his welfare and found him conscious, breathing, and alert. The individual stated he was simply taking a break for a few minutes and did not require any additional assistance.
