Medical On August 18, 2025, at approximately 0827 hours, officers and medical personnel responded to a medical incident at the Marriott Center. They encountered an adult female who had tripped while ascending the stairs, resulting in a fall that caused a laceration to her forehead from hitting the edge of the stairs. The female was examined and treated on scene before being released into the care of a friend, who stated she would take her to the emergency room for further evaluation.
Fraud A complainant reported that her personal information—name, Social Security number, and date of birth—had been used without her consent to secure employment in Las Vegas. She discovered this incident through Medicaid when her husband applied for benefits. Currently, no suspect details are available. The case will be forwarded to Investigations for further action, and the complainant has been advised to contact credit bureaus to flag her information and monitor for potential misuse.
Medical An officer and BYUEMS were dispatched to the Tanner Building for a lady that hurt her arm when the elevator doors closed on it. BYUEMS began evaluating the female and stated that they did not need law enforcement assistance.
Medical A BYU police officer and EMS responded to reports of an elderly woman experiencing knee pain at the Wilkinson Student Center. Upon arrival, she explained that her knee had started hurting suddenly while walking, with no fall or injury involved. EMS wrapped her knee and provided an ice pack, then cleared the scene after ensuring her condition was stable.
Property Damage A BYU Records employee used a university van for her job duties. Upon returning, she accidentally scraped the passenger side of the van against a concrete wall in the underground parking lot. She was assigned a case number and was instructed to send photos and provide the van details once she had access to the vehicle again.
Citizen Assist The BYU police department received a call from a citizen that could not find his vehicle in lot 59 and feared it had been stolen. Before officers made contact, the citizen called dispatch back to report that he had parked it in a different parking lot, but had forgotten.
Medical An officer and Provo Paramedics were dispatched to Heritage Halls for a female that had gone unconscious while walking. Paramedics responded and evaluated the female. The female did not want to go to the hospital. Officers offered the female a ride to the apartment she was staying at for Education Week.
Found Person A complainant reported finding a distressed 2-year-old boy outside crying. Before officers arrived, the mother claimed responsibility for the child. She and the child were observed walking into Building 17, with the mother stating everything was fine and the child appeared happy. The complainant was also contacted regarding the incident.
Sick Person An officer and Provo EMS responded to Heritage Halls on a report of a medical call. Paramedics transported the patient to the hospital.
Suspicious An officer responded to a report of an unoccupied vehicle with the driver side door open. The officer secured the vehicle door which appeared to have been inadvertently left open.
