Upon arrival, officers found the door propped open with a weight. The door was secured, and dispatch confirmed the alarm had cleared. Officers checked the building for any suspicious activity but found nothing out of the ordinary.
Lockout Officers responded to the JSB after receiving a report that the baptismal font water had been running for an extended period and could not be shut off. Officers accessed the font area through the men's locker room, forcing open a door that had swollen shut due to excessive moisture. The hot water to the font was shut off and the font was drained. The prolonged water flow, possibly overnight, caused significant humidity, resulting in water dripping from the walls and ceiling. Officers propped open doors to improve ventilation, and Building Maintenance responded to assess the damage.
Gas Smell BYU Police and Provo Fire responded to the Riviera Apartments for a reported natural gas odor. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the presence of a gas smell but were unable to immediately identify the source. Facilities Management and the gas company were notified and responded to the scene. They located the source of the leak and repaired the faulty component, resolving the issue.
Lockout A student employee requested access to an office in the SAB to retrieve a laptop computer. Dispatch verified the individual's identity and confirmed he was authorized to access Room 206. Officers granted access to the office, and the student employee retrieved his belongings without incident.
CO Alarm BYU Police and Provo Fire responded to a carbon monoxide alarm. Fire personnel did not detect hazardous levels of carbon monoxide but confirmed the presence of an odor consistent with a gas-related issue, potentially originating from the cooking range. Facilities Management and the gas company were notified and responded to investigate. They worked to identify the source of the problem and take corrective action to resolve the issue.
Lost Property The complainant contacted BYU Police to report a missing wallet. She advised that she last recalled having the wallet during a church meeting in Room 215. An officer responded and conducted a search of the room but was unable to locate the wallet. The wallet was not recovered at the time of the report.
CO Alarm Officers responded to the Wy-view Park on a report of a carbon monoxide alarm. Provo Fire also responded and detected elevated carbon monoxide levels within the residence. Officers notified BYU Housing, and Provo Fire contacted the natural gas provider. Both parties responded to the scene, identified the source of the issue, and began corrective actions to mitigate the hazard.
