Alarm BYU Police officers responded to the CSC following the activation of an ammonia alarm. Provo Fire Haz-Mat personnel and two ammonia technicians also responded to investigate. The technicians located the source of the ammonia leak and isolated it by shutting off the affected valve. After confirming the hazard had been mitigated, Provo Fire Haz-Mat cleared the scene. Risk Management was notified of the incident for follow-up.
Accident An officer responded to Lot 61 regarding a reportable traffic accident involving a BYU-owned vehicle that occurred at 2230 North. Upon arrival, the officer investigated the collision, completed the required accident report, and provided both drivers with exchange-of-information documentation.
Duress Alarm Officers responded to the Music Building for a panic alarm activation. Investigation revealed that an employee's child accidentally activated the alarm while in the office, not realizing its purpose. Officers confirmed there was no emergency, reset the alarm, and cleared the scene without incident.
Gas Smell Officers responded with Provo Fire to a report of a possible natural gas odor at Wyview Park. Upon arrival, the area was evaluated by responding personnel. Provo Fire conducted gas detection checks and found no evidence of a gas leak or other hazard. No gas was detected, and no issues were identified.
