Lockout Officers were dispatched to the Tanner Building to assist a student who had accidentally locked himself out of a classroom, leaving his key inside. An officer responded and helped the student regain access to the room. The student retrieved his belongings and concluded his study session for the evening.
Intrusion Alarm An officer was dispatched to a motion alarm at the Paleontology Museum on BYU campus. Upon arrival, the officer conducted a security check of the building and found it secure. No signs of unauthorized entry, suspicious activity, or any apparent cause for the alarm were discovered.
Agency Assist A BYU Police officer responded to assist Provo Police with a traffic accident in Provo. The officer investigated the collision, completed the necessary accident report, and provided both drivers with exchange-of-information documentation.
Alarm An officer responded to a door alarm at the Marriott Center Annex Tunnel. Upon arrival, the officer contacted a Heating Plant employee who had been checking several hot water valves in the area. The employee had already secured the door and left prior to the officer's arrival. The alarm was determined to be associated with the employee's authorized activity and was cleared without further incident.
Medical Officers responded with Provo Fire to the Tanner Building for a report of a patient who had lost consciousness. Upon arrival, Provo Fire personnel evaluated the patient and determined that transport was not necessary. The patient was released to the care of their fiancée.
Welfare Check An officer responded to Wymount Terrace for a welfare check after a housing manager reported accumulating packages and an inability to contact the resident. The officer was unable to reach the resident by phone and subsequently contacted the resident's emergency contact, who advised that the resident was traveling out of the country. The information was relayed to the housing manager, and no further concerns were identified.
Motorist Assist Officers responded to a report of an infant locked inside a vehicle in Lot 43 at Wyview Park. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle was not running, the outside temperature exceeded 90 degrees, and the infant had reportedly been trapped inside for more than 10 minutes. An officer observed signs of distress and, due to the immediate threat to the infant's safety, broke the driver's side front window to gain access and remove the child. Provo Fire Department responded and evaluated the infant, who was safely removed from the vehicle. After the incident, officers cleaned up the broken glass and cleared the scene.
Traffic Accident Officers responded to a traffic accident near 650 East University Parkway. After Provo Police completed the initial crash investigation (26PR09255), an unoccupied vehicle involved in the accident was left with its transmission not in park. The vehicle subsequently rolled westbound into BYU Lot 19, striking two signs and a parked, unoccupied vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Trauma Officers and Provo Paramedics responded to Wymount Terrace after receiving a report that a male had jumped from a window and sustained injuries to his ankles. Paramedics evaluated the male at the scene and transported him to Utah Valley Hospital for further medical treatment. Because the male was working at the time of the incident, officers notified his supervisor of the situation.
