Theft An officer took a phone report of a bicycle that was stolen two weeks prior from the Language Immersion Housing Center. The officer documented the theft and referred the case to investigators.
Fire Alarm – ELLB BYU Police responded to the Ellsworth Building for a fire alarm. An officer found that someone had burnt popcorn, causing the fire alarm to be triggered. There was no actual fire, flames, or property damage anywhere in the area. The alarm was silenced and the BYU fire technician was notified.
Traffic Offense BYU Police responded to a scooter crash in Lot 20. A rider claimed a vehicle cut her off, causing her to fall. The driver fled the scene, and security footage wasn't sufficient to identify the vehicle. The scooter rider suffered minor injuries.
Missing Person Multiple Officers along with security responded to the WSC on a missing person. The subject was located out in their vehicle.
Property Damage BYU Police responded to a minor traffic accident at WSC, but the parties had already left the scene upon arrival. A BYU supervisor confirmed that the individuals had exchanged insurance information and had begun the reporting process.
Property Damage A police officer responded to a report of a vehicle with suspected damage parked near the Tennis Building from August 30 to September 9. The damage, located high on the vehicle, is believed to possibly be caused by a skateboarder due to its position and the nature of the marks. The officer collected extensive video footage and requested Security Students to review the footage to identify any individuals who may have run into the van.
Lost Property A Cannon Center student reported a missing backpack. An officer investigated and discovered the bag being taken by another student, likely by accident. The backpack was promptly returned to its rightful owner.
Medical An officer responded to a medical at the WSC in the Cougar Eats area. BYU EMS arrived, treated a patient who reported not eating today and experiencing lightheadedness and fainting upon standing. The patient was stabilized and released.
