Agency Assist A BYU officer assisted Provo Police Department at the scene of a two-car traffic collision at the intersection of University Avenue and Cougar Boulevard. The crash resulted in injuries, and emergency services including Provo EMS, Provo PD, and BYU PD responded to the incident. Support case numbers were generated for documentation purposes.
Fire – Gas Smell BYU Police and Provo Fire Department responded to an incident at Wymount Terrace 15A following a report of a gas smell in the apartment. Upon arrival, no gas odor was detected by fire personnel or law enforcement, and their carbon monoxide meters confirmed the absence of any lethal gases. BYU Housing was notified of the situation, and no further action was deemed necessary.
Medical A report was received regarding an adult female who experienced a loss of consciousness. The individual regained consciousness and was conscious, breathing, and alert at the time of assessment. BYU EMS was dispatched but cleared the scene prior to arrival.
Agency Assist An FBI agent requested assistance from a uniformed BYU officer during an interview with a BYU student regarding a potential crime. The on-duty Provo Police Sergeant was also notified of the situation. Together, the BYU police officer and the FBI agent spoke to the individual in question. This report is being documented for record-keeping purposes.
Theft On September 19, 2025, a theft of an e-scooter was reported from the area surrounding Botany Pond. The scooter, which was securely locked to a bike rack, is believed to have been stolen earlier that day. An officer contacted the complainant by phone to gather pertinent details. Surveillance footage from the area is currently under review, and a request for the footage has been made to aid the investigation. The case remains under active investigation.
Accident A police officer responded to Lot 2 after a BYU employee reported a minor collision involving a BYU-owned vehicle and a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer observed minor damage to rear bumper. The driver said he was backing from a parking stall when he struck the parked vehicle. A report was filed.
Accident – Hit & Run A potential hit-and-run incident was reported in Lot 31 near the Music Building, initially brought to attention by a third party. Law enforcement officers collected available vehicle and license plate information provided by the reporting party. No injuries have been reported or observed at this time. The case remains under investigation as officers work to determine the details of the incident.
Suspicious During nightly patrols at Helaman Halls, a concerned RA reported smelling the odor of marijuana between Stover and Taylor Halls. Officers responded to investigate the report, but despite thorough checks of the area, they were unable to detect any marijuana odor. Officers continued to patrol the surrounding buildings throughout the evening, but no suspicious activity or evidence was found. The situation remains under observation, with no further incidents reported.
