Medical Officers responded with Provo Fire to a report of a patient who had been choking at Wyview Park. Prior to the arrival of emergency personnel, the patient had stopped choking and returned to normal breathing. Medical personnel evaluated the patient on scene and did not need to transport the patient to the hospital.
Breathing Problem Officers responded to a medical call in the Clyde Building. Medical personnel evaluated and assisted the individual on scene. The individual was not transported, and officers cleared the call without further incident.
Medical Officers responded to the Museum of Art (MOA) for a report of an adult female visitor who had sustained a ground-level fall. BYU Police, BYU EMS, and Provo EMS responded to assist. The patient was evaluated on scene and, at her request, was transported by Provo EMS to Utah Valley Hospital for further treatment. The patient was released to Provo EMS for transport.
Medical Officers responded to the JFSB for a female who was having trouble breathing and symptoms consistent with a panic attack. Upon arrival, officers located the female with two individuals who were assisting her. Those helping her were provided with access to her phone, which contained detailed instructions regarding her condition and recommended methods of assistance. Medical personnel arrived and evaluated the female. Officers assisted her to a room where she began to feel better and was more able to communicate. She was treated on scene, was not transported.
Citizen Contact An officer returned a phone call to a complainant regarding an earlier incident in which an e-scooter struck his vehicle while the complainant was driving on BYU campus. The complainant stated he was aware of his reporting and legal options and did not request further action. He wished to discuss the incident and requested that the scooter operator be contacted regarding potentially faulty brakes on the e-scooter. The officer complied with the request and cleared the call.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to a smoke alarm at Budge Hall. Upon arrival, officers observed an audible alarm but found no signs of smoke, fire, or other hazards in the area. The complainant directed officers to the room where the alarm originated, and the smoke alarm was inspected. The device was found to be nearly eighteen years old despite indicating a recommended replacement interval of ten years. Housing personnel responded, removed the defective alarm, and arranged for its replacement. Officers cleared the call after determining there was no emergency.
Harassment Officers met with a complainant regarding ongoing harassment occurring both on and off campus by an unknown individual. The victim reported multiple incidents and was advised to complete a written statement for inclusion in the case file. Additional follow-up may be conducted after the statement is received to assist in identifying the suspect and determining any further investigative actions.
Suspicious Person Officers responded to the Life Sciences Building (LSB) after a security officer reported a suspicious male looking through a refrigerator in a break area. The complainant advised that the individual did not appear to be a student and his behavior was suspicious. Officers checked the area and reviewed photographs of the individual provided by dispatch. Further review of security camera footage revealed the male had left the building approximately one hour prior to officers' arrival. The individual was not located, and the call was cleared.
Noise Complaint Officers responded to the traffic circle near Heritage Building 13 on a complaint of loud music coming from a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle and requested that they lower the volume of the music. The occupants were also advised to move the vehicle and park in a designated parking space rather than stopping and blocking the roundabout. The occupants complied, and officers cleared the call.
