Sick Person
Officers responded to a report of a male experiencing sharp pain in his lower back and abdomen while on the lawn south of the David O. McKay Building. Officers contacted the individual prior to the arrival of medical personnel and spoke with him about his symptoms, which had subsided by that time. Medical personnel evaluated the individual, and he reported feeling fine during their assessment.

Theft
Officers responded to a report of a theft from a bike rack near Wyview Building 10. The victim reported that a black electric scooter had been stolen. The exact time of the theft is unknown; however, the scooter was last seen secured at approximately 9:00 p.m. on 09/28/2026 and was discovered missing at approximately 1:45 p.m. on 09/29/2026.

Welfare Check
Officers were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on a BYU student after a complainant expressed concern over statements about not wanting to live anymore. The complainant advised that the individual had not made any direct threats of self-harm. An officer contacted the student by phone and determined that the individual did not intend to harm themselves or anyone else.

Citizen Contact
An officer responded to the Music Building regarding a report of a strange odor coming from a locked room. Upon arrival, contact was made with appropriate individuals, and the source of the odor was identified. A battery charging in a vacuum was the cause of the smell.

Accident – Hit and Run
Officers contacted the complainant regarding a possible hit-and-run incident that may have occurred on 09/28/2026. The complainant reported parking their vehicle in Lot 3 between 1900 and 2230 hours and later discovering a broken tail light. Officers investigated the report but were unable to determine when or how the damage occurred. The parking location was not covered by an unobstructed camera view due to trees blocking the area. No suspect information or additional evidence was available at the time of the report.

Agency Assist
Officers assisted Provo Police at the Y Trailhead in locating two overdue 13-year-old hikers who were reported to be approximately one-half mile above the Y. The juveniles contacted police after becoming frightened by a mountain lion they believed was stalking them. Officers located the hikers and safely brought them down the mountain on the UTV. BYU officers utilized a department side-by-side vehicle to assist Provo Police, who had officers responding on motorcycles. The hikers were returned safely, and no injuries were reported.
