Fire – Gas Smell Officers responded to the Eyring Science Center following a report of a natural gas odor near the southwest corner of the building. Upon arrival, officers located the building's gas meter mounted on the exterior wall and detected a slight intermittent gas odor in the area. Provo Fire Department personnel responded and evaluated the meter, confirming it was operating normally and occasionally releasing pressure as designed. Fire personnel determined there was no hazard present, and no further action was required.
Medical Officers responded to a report of a female who had fallen against a door and later lost consciousness. Medical personnel arrived and evaluated her condition. The female reported feeling somewhat better but stated that she believed she had been coming down with a minor illness over the previous 24 hours and had not eaten or consumed much fluid. After medical personnel completed their assessment, officers provided the female with a courtesy ride to the Richards Building.
Suspicious Person Officers responded to the area of the Student Health Center and Wymount Apartments following a report of a suspicious male. The subject was described as a possible homeless male wearing a black shirt and black shorts who was reportedly talking to himself and possibly climbing on a fence. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description. No criminal activity was observed or reported.
Fire Alarm Officers responded to a fire alarm activated after an employee burned a bag of microwave popcorn. A building supervisor reported smoke in the area, but no flames were observed. Upon arrival, officers found the fire alarm system activated with both audible and visual alarms functioning.
Accident Officers responded to a traffic accident in Lot 52. The investigation determined that a vehicle failed to yield to a second car while exiting a parking aisle, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported by either driver. The parties involved exchanged information, and an accident report was completed.
Criminal Mischief Officers were dispatched to a report of criminal mischief in Lot 18. The complainant stated she parked her vehicle in the lot at approximately 1300 hours and, upon returning around 1830 hours, discovered five small dents along the passenger side. She advised that she was confident the damage was not present when she parked and believed her vehicle may have been vandalized. An officer attempted to review available surveillance footage; however, the camera was not focused on the parking lot during the relevant time period. Photographs provided by the complainant were attached to the report, and she was provided with a case number. No further leads were available.
Juvenile Problem Officers responded to Heritage Building 10 on a report of two juvenile males knocking on residents' doors and riding the elevator throughout the building. The Housing Advisor contacted the males, who stated they lived in Merrill Hall and were visiting a sister in the building. The males left the area prior to the officer's arrival. Dispatch obtained a photograph of the individuals, which was attached to the report.
Welfare Check – Safe Walk Officers responded to the area of 900 East 1100 North for a welfare check after a SafeWalk participant became disconnected from the app before reaching their destination. Officers were able to contact the individual, who reported experiencing phone issues. The individual had arrived safely at their destination and did not require any further assistance.
