Upon investigation, officers determined that the female resides in Orem, prompting BYU to request Orem Police to conduct the welfare check. Orem PD acknowledged they would take over the case.
Accident – Hit and Run An officer responded to a request for phone contact from a complainant wanting to report a hit and run accident that occurred in lot 34 over the weekend. The officer contacted the complainant and provided them with a case number for the incident. The case is under investigation.
Medical BYU Police responded to the SWKT after a student began experiencing an allergic reaction. BYU and Provo EMS personnel responded and evaluated the patient. The patient was cleared to resume normal activities.
Chest Pain An officer, BYU EMS, and Provo Paramedics responded to a medical call at the Joseph F. Smith building. The patient was treated and released at the scene.
Accident An officer responded via phone to a delayed report concerning suspected vehicle damage in Lot 37 over the weekend. After reviewing campus camera footage, the officer found no evidence of the vehicle being damaged on campus premises.
Suspicious BYU Police were dispatched to a delayed suspicious circumstance that occurred the previous week at the JFSB. A professor had an unknown male student enter her classroom and make comments during the lecture that were perceived as concerning. The male is currently unidentified. The professor wanted the incident documented and asked questions about how to handle the incident if it occurs again.
Suspicious Officers responded to the JFSB regarding a suspicious individual. The complainant, who has prior interactions with the person, expressed concerns for a female students' safety. During a private exhibit showing, the complainant requested the individual and others inside to leave. Officers contacted three individuals inside the exhibit and asked them to vacate. The subject's ID was obtained, revealing no prior campus records or bans. The complainant stated they would coordinate with security to pursue a ban on the individual.
Information The BYU Police responded to a report from a female student concerned that her ex-boyfriend was following her after contacting her in the library. Officers escorted her to her apartment while another officer spoke with the ex-boyfriend, who denied following her and claimed he had not pursued her after she expressed a desire not to talk. He provided background on their relationship, and officers advised him to cease all contact and avoid reconciliation.
Mental Subject A BYU officer responded to the Brimhall Building regarding a possible overdose. Upon arrival, BYU EMS and Provo Fire personnel assessed and treated a female patient who reported taking a second dose of her medication prematurely, expressing concern about potential overdose. The patient was treated on-site and later released by EMS personnel. She stated she would remain with friends for the remainder of the evening.
Suspicious The BYU Police Department was alerted by a BYU security officer regarding a potential homeless individual who had left a package containing items in Lot 45 east of the Paleontology Building. Upon arrival to investigate, the officer found that the package was no longer present. Dispatch was notified of the situation, and the officer cleared the scene.
Mental Subject Officers responded to a mental health-related complaint on Temple View Drive. BYU police have had recent contact with the individual, who resides near the mouth of Rock Canyon. Due to his mental illness, he often talks aloud while walking to and from the canyon. The individual was identified during the response and was found to have no warrants and needed no assistance.
