Unsecure Gate A security incident was reported at the South Field involving an unlocked gate. A responding officer was dispatched to investigate and secure the gate. However, upon arrival, it was determined that the gate in question was the northeast gate, not the southeast gate as initially reported. The officer successfully adjusted the gate to lock and secure it, resolving the issue.
Suspicious Circumstance – Joyride Two female students took a golf cart from Heritage and was driving it around campus. They were eventually caught up with and spoken to. They were Identified and sent home with a warning. The golf cart was returned to Heritage.
Accident A police officer responded to a report of a delayed traffic accident in Lot 26. The complainant provided photos of the damage, and the officer determined the incident was non-reportable. The complainant left his contact information on the other vehicle involved. The officer advised him to contact law enforcement if any issues arise with the information exchange.
Fire Alarm A fire alarm was triggered at a residence in Wymount, prompting responses from Provo Fire, BYU EMS, and BYU Police. Upon investigation, Provo Fire detected no readings on the carbon monoxide meter, and the residents reported the alarm going off without any apparent cause. Fire technicians were called in to check the alarm system, which was suspected of being defective.
Campus Alarms BYU police officers responded to and assisted with six fire alarms and three lockouts, providing support to faculty, staff, and the security department to ensure safety and security on campus.
