Accident BYU Police responded to a minor traffic incident near the EMLC dock involving a semi-truck and a BYU-owned trailer. The semi-truck scraped the trailer while backing into a parking stall, causing only a superficial paint scrape to the trailer. However, the semi sustained a broken front wheel hub, which was leaking fluids.
Medical A law enforcement officer and BYUEMS responded to the HRCB after a report of a person who had fallen and requested EMS assistance to wrap their ankle.
Disturbance Officers were dispatched to the Music Building for a report of an individual who was yelling loudly while walking north on 900 E. The complainant did not wish to press charges for disorderly conduct. Officers arrived in the area and did not observe any criminal activity. The male in question was walking on city sidewalks and was not causing a further disturbance.
Accident – 450 E Cougar BLVD A vehicle was executing a left turn from 450 E onto Cougar Blvd, yielding to oncoming traffic before completing the turn. At the same time, a skateboarder was riding southbound in lane on 450 E, passing through the intersection with Cougar Blvd. The driver of Vehicle reported that he waited for pedestrians to cross and only turned left when the intersection was clear. The skateboarder stated he was riding at a speed between 15-20 mph within the lane of travel. During the turn, the skateboarder made front passenger side contact with the vehicle. The skateboarder was evaluated by BYUEMS and Provo paramedics and sustained minor injuries.
Medical BYU Police were dispatched to the LSB to assist someone feeling faint/sick. BYU EMS personnel responded and met with the patient and they were later released.
Robbery Alarm An officer was dispatched to the Laundry Building in response to a robbery alarm. Upon arrival, dispatch reviewed the surveillance cameras and observed normal activity. Officers interviewed the workers, who confirmed that they had not pressed any alarm buttons. The officer verified that the buttons had not been depressed and later arranged for a work order to address the system.
Harassment The BYU Police Department received a report through the BYU Security "See Something, Say Something" platform regarding a potential delayed stalking incident at the Wilkinson Student Center during dance class. An officer contacted the female victim by phone, who reported that she and a male friend had clearly communicated to a male suspect that she was not interested in pursuing any relationship. Despite this, the suspect has continued to attend the swing dance class, making her feel uncomfortable. The victim provided only the suspect's first name and described him as an older white male, unsure if he is a student. Efforts are underway to positively identify the suspect so that the police can advise him to cease all contact with the victim.
Accident – CONE A BYU student was backing her vehicle out of a parking stall when she accidentally collided with a parked car behind her. Unaware of any damage, she waited for the other driver to return to his vehicle. The incident occurred at night, and the driver initially did not notice any damage. However, upon arriving home, he discovered damage to his front fog light. He captured a photo of the license plate and contacted BYU police, who then facilitated communication between the two parties. Both drivers exchanged personal information and provided written statements to document the incident.
Welfare Check A concerned citizen reported to the BYU Police Department that a vehicle with its lights on and door open was parked in Lot 2, with no one around, raising fears of an abduction. An officer responded to the call and patrolled the area but was unable to locate the specific vehicle. Later, the officer found a vehicle matching the description with lights on, occupied by a person in the driver's seat. Upon checking on their welfare, the individual confirmed they were fine.
