Robbery Alarm Officers responded to the Cone regarding a robbery alarm. Dispatch reviewed camera footage and observed no suspicious activity. Upon contact, employees confirmed that all was normal. The officer verified that the alarms had not been triggered or pushed. A work order was requested through dispatch for system inspection and maintenance.
Criminal Mischief A delayed report regarding damage to the toilet valves in the men's restroom of the Eyring Science Annex has been documented. The building manager initially observed the damage and later reported it to the BYU Police Department. An officer responded to the scene, photographed the damage, and shared the information with Risk Management. Janitorial staff also reported the damage to building management, estimating that it occurred approximately one day prior. The case is currently under investigation.
Suspicious A delayed report was received regarding a suspicious adult male observed inside the clothing lab at JFSB. The individual was not a student and was found in a restricted, unauthorized area. Despite being asked to leave by lab personnel, the subject did not exit immediately and has not yet been identified. Surveillance footage is currently being reviewed to determine the subject's identity. The case remains under investigation
Escort A police officer responded to a request for an escort for a staff member. The officer contacted the person who explained that their request was related to a previously reported incident from October 1st. The officer provided an escort for the subject to the Tanner Building and advised them on how to handle future requests. No further police action was taken.
Accident A police officer responded to a reported collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle. Upon arrival, the motorcyclist confirmed he was unharmed and had already exchanged information with the other driver. The driver of the vehicle also declined to file a police report. The officer verified that both parties had exchanged their names, contact details, and insurance information. No injuries or further assistance were required.
Unauthorized Vehicle on Campus A license plate reader (LPR) detected a blue 2001 Chevy S10 pickup with shell, that flagged as a theft suspect associated with a theft case from the CONE. An area check was conducted, but the vehicle was not found on scene. Dispatch retrieved footage from nearby cameras, confirming the vehicle had exited the campus. This information was documented, attached to the previous case, and forwarded to Investigations.
Harassment A building employee working in the evening reported that a male individual, who does not attend BYU but has been frequently present at the same time she is working, has been asking her out regularly. The employee's manager was notified and requested that the male be asked to leave. The male was then contacted and instructed to stop bothering the employee and to leave the premises. He complied and departed. The employee was advised to contact the police again if the situation persists.
