Citizen Contact A report was initially received regarding criminal mischief involving a damaged scooter in the basement of the Heritage 9 building. Upon officer response and contact with the scooter owner, it was observed that the scooter was fully functional, except for a plastic cover that was not closed. The owner believed the open cover might have been intentional, as he did not cause it. The officer closed the cover and confirmed the scooter appeared normal. The owner then rode the scooter away, and no signs of criminal or suspicious activity were detected or observed during the incident.
Traffic Stop A BYU Police Officer on patrol observed a male on a moped run a red light, then cut off a line of vehicles attempting to turn right by making an unsafe lane change in front of those vehicles. The moped's registration was also expired and had no insurance. The driver was issued citations and released.
Welfare Check A BYU police officer responded to a Provo apartment near campus after receiving a report from BYU Security that a female BYU student had disconnected from the campus "Safewalk" app. Upon arrival, officers contacted the student at her residence and confirmed that she was safe. It was determined that her disconnection from the app was accidental.
