Welfare Check Dispatch was contacted by a citizen reporting an elderly male who appeared to be lost and was found without any form of identification. Officers responded to the scene, located the individual, and transported him safely back to his residence nearby.
Traffic Offense Dispatch received a report of a reckless driver on campus. Officers responded to the area with negative contact.
Found Property The BYU Police Department responded to a report of a stolen laptop from a vehicle parked in the Ross parking lot in Provo. The owner tracked the device to the Wilkinson Student Center and later to the HBLL Library. The laptop was ultimately recovered by a group of students who found it in the middle of Provo Center Street, where it had been struck by several cars. The laptop was returned to the owner for potential data recovery.
Suspicious The BYU Police Department was alerted to a suspicious gold Toyota Sienna van parked on the first level of the Tanner Building parking structure. The van had window shades covering the windows and was occupied by a single individual. Officers responded to the scene, patrolled all levels of the parking structure, but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.
Fire Alarm – Gas Smell A report of a possible natural gas smell at Chipman Hall prompted the BYU Police Department and Provo Fire Department to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, both agencies conducted an inspection and determined that no natural gas was detected.
Medical A student living in Heritage Halls contacted the BYU Police Department and Provo Fire Department, reporting that his roommate was feeling ill, experiencing nausea and lightheadedness in the bathroom. Upon arrival, the Provo Fire Department conducted an assessment and concluded that the roommate's symptoms likely resulted from food poisoning or ingestion of something harmful. The patient declined transport to the hospital for further treatment.
