Fire Alarm
Officers responded to a fire alarm at Wymount Terrace. Dispatch contacted the residents before officers arrived and confirmed that there was no fire; the alarm was an ongoing malfunction. The officer silenced and reset the alarm. The on-campus housing fire technician was notified and advised dispatch that he was aware of the issue but was not responding at this time.

Suspicious
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious man at the intersection of Cougar Blvd. and Canyon Road on BYU campus. The complainant stated that the individual was acting strangely and asking questions about the university, which scared him. Officers located the suspect near the indoor practice facility. The man was behaving abnormally but was dressed appropriately for the weather. He requested a ride to the Slate Canyon area in Provo.

Assist Agency
An officer from Weber State PD contacted us regarding a potential sexual assault case that occurred on the Weber State Campus on November 5, 2025. The complainant reported that she met the suspect through the Facebook dating app. She described the suspect as driving a red Jeep Wrangler with Colorado plates. The BYU officer checked the campus housing areas for any vehicles matching this description but was unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm
A carbon monoxide (CO) alarm was activated in a residence at Wyview Park Housing. Provo Fire and EMS, along with BYU Police, responded to the scene and confirmed the residence was safe. Provo Fire reported a positive CO reading, though levels were low. The residence was ventilated, and residents were permitted to return. Risk management was notified, and the housing RA was present on scene.

Suspicious Circumstance
An officer was dispatched to a report of a suspicious person trespassing at the UPC. A bishop called to report that they were hosting a ward activity, and a possible homeless individual had entered and helped himself to several cookies. The officer responded but found that the individual had already left and was not located. The officer also walked through the building and confirmed it was secure.
